Not yet, but it will be supported in a future version.

Better support for files that have their own folder is in the works and will be available soon.

Regarding TV Shows, one option would be something like:

The Office/Season 1/S01E02.mkv

What kind of file? Are you using a wired or wireless network?

Typically content up to 720p can be streamed via wifi, whereas 1080p content will require a ethernet connection.

Hmm, if you haven't already could you open a support ticket?

Yep, you can stream all formats wirelessly to the ATV2.

Purchased a few days ago and everything worked fine. Now I constantly get low memory warnings making it pretty much unusable. Any thoughts as to what's going on?
Only 3rd party piece I installed was nitotv. I uninstalled but made no difference

I updated to 4.4.3 and jail broke (tethered) using Seas0nPass. Installation of Apple TV Flash (black) went flawlessly. However, NONE of the 3rd party extras are visible/accessible. Anyone else having this problem? Im missing XBMC (and ICEFilms) most - are they not supported on 4.4.3 yet?

Submitted by Anon on November 22, 2011 - 3:03pm

I have had this problem too. If you are running Windows 7 anywhere on your local network, that's your problem - especially if ATV is connected wirelessly. You will find that ATV can connect to the internet (e.g. netflix) with fewer issues, but gives you this "network may not be fast enough ..." error when accessing files over your LAN (I am accessing files located on a FreeNAS server, BTW). Windows 7 is playing Network Nazi. It is all over the non-Microsoft owned forums. Feel free to fact check.

Solution: I am only running Windows 7 on a Bootcamp partition and removed the partition. The problem has been solved. Amazing.

I believe your issue has nothing to do w/ATV or ATV Flash. Instead it has to do with all the network security features built-in to Windows 7. Unless you aren't running any Windows 7 device on your LAN, this is your problem. Best of luck with your solution. You may want to start by trying to disable things like "network health monitor" and "RCE" and a few others like that.

When i use the media player, the meta Fetching is very Slow. It doesn't seems to save the metadata, and begin from start again, building new covers every time i start...i have around 1000 iso. Movies on my synology NA's, is it a memory/processor problem -or too much movies?
The covers only show up when im scrolling Down in a very Slow speed.

James,

The one feature that is missing that I really would like to have is support for files *.wtv and .dvr-ms.

There seems to be some support through XBMC but it's too jumpy to be any good.

I'd like to be able to stream my media center recorded files to my primary tv through your product. Any chance of supporting this?

Thanks.

Fetching speed is one of the aspects we're working to improve. Stay tuned.

Hello James,

What's the firecore upgrade/update to major and minor version of atv flash black?

Thanks,

This version is compatible with Apple TV Software Update 4.4.3 ?
Or it's better to wait for an update for aTV Flash (black) ?

Submitted by robi666 on November 23, 2011 - 7:20pm

Since Mediaplayer use a shared folder as repository for movies, why don't you use it as repository for the metadata as well?

If one person has more than an ATV, they all will use the same metadata instead of searching the internet.

Also, why don't you use a "standard" structure for movies and metadata (that is a folder for each movie)?

Some of us use different players and almost all use that "standard" folder structure.

I get the same thing.

What I've done is that I've left the seas0npass window open and then in iTunes I've clicked on the restore button (for the ATV2) while holding down the option key and then selecting the file that seas0npass created from the finder. iTunes then restores the ATV2 using the created file.

After that you restart the seas0npass program and do a tethered boot.

Good luck

i have the same problem , in my case the problem was the sytem language , i live in argentina so i use spanish. I changed it to english (in mac osx preferences ) , then everything was normal.

Has anyone uses the web browser to play music from Mog.com? I currently use Airplay to stream Mog to my ATV2 from an iPod Touch, but I find that Airplay over wifi is a little glitchy. :)

WHEN INSTALLING, WHERE DO I PUT MY SERIAL NUMBER

Submitted by tbm on November 25, 2011 - 1:45am

I think it is checking that the version you are trying to install is the newest version available. I guess that at that point you have not yet chosen which apple tv you want to install the software on... Just click "go" or "next" or whatever and go ahead and install.

Submitted by james on November 25, 2011 - 7:19am

aTV Flash (black) is compatible with 4.4.3, though the jailbreak for this version is still tethered.

Possibly. If you have a sample file you can send in a may be helpful.

Submitted by dmingay on November 25, 2011 - 8:31am

Do you offer a cross grade price for people who already have the Silver ATV Flash (gen 1) to Black ATV Flash (gen 2)?

Submitted by cjaerw.103340 on November 25, 2011 - 12:07pm

Sure, I can do that. I'll do a custom recording for only a minute or so of video to make the file size smaller.

The DVR-MS is primarily an MPEG2 file with a wrapper that includes meta data, subs and other stuff.

WTV is the new format for windows 7. I am guessing it's the same, although I wouldn't be surprised if included support for H264 or had enhanced DRM. I'm not super technical.

What email address do I send it to?

It means that every time it's powered off, I need to reinstall aTV Flash again?

Submitted by Fofer on November 26, 2011 - 11:16am

I just tried.  I was able to log in, but I cannot select or play any music.  Similar thing happened with music.google.com.

Submitted by tbm on November 26, 2011 - 12:47pm

Do you have any special characters in the folder name that holds the files?

Submitted by Fofer on November 26, 2011 - 12:49pm

What's the deal with the new FLAC support? Are there any limitations/restrictions?

I ask because I have a test FLAC from Supertramp's album "Crime of the Century."  It is 24bit at 96khz and weighs in at 124.2 MB.  Sounds great on my MacBook Pro, using mPlayerX.  But when I try to play it via Firecore's Media Player, it just looks for metadata, and then returns to the Media Player menu.  Doesn't play any sound at all.  My AppleTV has a ethernet connection and videos I play back using the same setup work just fine.

Any tips?

Submitted by davel.3307 on November 26, 2011 - 3:32pm

**IF YOUR APPLE TV HAS 4.4.x INSTALLED, everytime it's powered off you need to do a tethered bootup (This is not made clear enough and is a HUGE drag - )  I'm stuck with 4.3 until they can fix it because my laptop (after hours of trying) can't find my device in DFU mode as it boots up - making a tethered boot impossible.)

Hopefully, they figure it out because it's hockey season and 4.3 doesn't have the NHL channel.  BAH!!!!

Submitted by Anon on November 27, 2011 - 5:59am

Nice. Thou i'll wait to buy it untill you support rar-playback and the options to make 4:3 movies stretch to 16:9.

Submitted by Anon on November 27, 2011 - 4:17pm

Has anybody had any problems with airplay? I have sound working but never any video? Is this something I am doing wrong or is it not capable of doing this yet. aTV Flash (black) 1.0

Submitted by nevillec.9927 on November 27, 2011 - 5:47pm

No issues at all, able to airplay YouTube Videos right from my iphone4 to the aTV Flash (black)

Submitted by derharry on November 28, 2011 - 9:12am

Good release! :-)

Feature Request for Media Player when play movies/etc as playlist:

- Media Player marks the watched item also as "watched"

- When start "Play as Playlist" the player also starts from first unwatched item or at least ask to restart from 1st item in list.

best regards

Submitted by james on November 29, 2011 - 9:09am

It may be related to the 24bit file. If you're able to send in a sample we can take a look.

Submitted by james on November 29, 2011 - 9:10am

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll pass along the ideas and see what we can do.

Submitted by james on November 29, 2011 - 9:12am

Great. If the file is relatively small, you can open a support ticket and attach it.

Otherwise, uploading the file to something like Dropbox and sending in the link would work as well.
