My requested features:

  1. Ability to delete files off NAS
  2. Assign metadata in different languages based on the files name (ex: French filename, French metadata, English filename, English metadata)

See a lot of people requesting ability to delete files off the NAS. I'd rather not give anyone else in the house that ability to be honest!

Make it an option in settings, and ask for pincode before performing delete action. (Same style 4-digit pincode as can be used for downloading content from App Store)

Agreed. Options are good. Some security from unintended deletion would work.

Exactly. Unintended metadata editing will quickly be a huge problem with kids and family. It should be available only while you need it. Plus it'll be nice to hide the edit button once you're finally done and don't wanna see it anymore.

Deleting is something I understand many people will make good use of. Right now I only give my Infuse user account read permissions, but if it does get implemented I agree it should also be a mode activated from settings to prevent kids deleting. PIN locked is probably a smart idea, perhaps also for the meta data editing mode?

Not sure if anyone mentioned this but ability to turn off metadata fetching for certain folders (i.e. home videos etc) and use embedded metadata instead.

My biggest wish right now is for a list view. The huge icon view is horrible, aspecially if you turn off metadata fething and just want a list of your files, sorted however you want.
I've seen several posts about a list view, has there been any official response about it?

Thanks!

A List View would be nice, but claiming the icon/cover view is "horrible" is just not true. Full stop.

Without metadata, sure it is. It doesn't even display the filename untill the icon is selected (I've evabled "Show filenames" in settings, not sure what it does), (it dows show names of folders, however), so for pure browsing purposes, the huge icons really are horrible.

I realize the different needs, of course, so that's why an optional list view would be great!

In Infuse for the ATV 2 the default was to use your metadata (whether in the form of embedded tags and artwork or .nfo files and folder.jpg) over metadata from TMDB and TVDB, but this is very flaky in the current version of Infuse. It also causes sorting problems for some reason.

My movies are out of order. finding a movie is a pain. Is this a known issue with sorting due to metadata fetching?

Should be - I've mentioned it enough times during the beta testing phase and again here. Next step will be to put in a support request, but Apple shut down the App Store for submissions over the Christmas period, and so no update will be forthcoming until the New Year.

I have two NAS: synology 715+ and Qnap 453. Kodi connects to these two NAS without any problems. Infuse took many tries to connect. I tried killing the app, restart ATV, etc. I tried to set these NAS to SMB1, SMB2, SMB2.1. after so many tries, it connects. I have three ATV so it take a long time and frustration.

anyone experience this?

Mmm not really, besides the bug which forced me to use SMB I really had no issues due to Infuse. Ordinarily I just use WebDAV for everything.

Using a Synology NAS here also, once I turned on the SMB file service - with max protocol set to SMB3 (but Infuse uses 2 max afaik) - it was immediately detected by Infuse, so no issues there. Created a new user account on the NAS specifically for the Apple TV infuse app, gave it read only permissions access to the few shared folders containing my media. Failed to login on Apple TV. NOT INFUSE FAULT. Went back to NAS, turns out I had to uncheck "Hide this shared folder in My Network Places" for at least one shared folder, otherwise it spits out errors because there is literally nothing for it to browse. My Mac does this too so it's not just the Apple TV or infuse. Anyway after that everything worked just fine really.

I have 2 wishes:

Maybe that one can as Option in Settings booth turn on or off

  1. Hide hidden files in File listing (i think this was already in old versions
  2. i can choose chapters in the Plex App easy in a horizontal scrolling, which is more comfortable aus the vertical style

if you can fulfill the wishes, you are the best ever... no more Features needed than this

Wish list:

. Option to visualize the files "On Deck" instead "Last played" in the main menu of ATV.
. Option to list view.
. A better way to organize and personalize the favourites folders on main screen.
. A way to return directly to the main screen.
. And the most important thing, add an icon to make the difference between the watched and unwatched movies/episodes/files...

I love this app but I want to make a small suggestion regarding metadata. Currently, some of my TV-shows are in folders as this:

Masters.Of.Sex.S02.1080p.Bluray -->
Masters.Of.Sex.S02E01.1080p.Bluray
etc
etc

Infuse then fails to load metadata for the first folder; Masters.Of.Sex.S02.1080p.Bluray since the files are in separate subfolders under the main folder. Could you make it so that this structure works with metadata? It would make me love this app even more Smile

Hi all, I signed up firstly to say how awesome Infuse is. It's the sole reason I bought an aTV4, since I can now watch Hi10p anime without a full HTPC solution.

As a related feature request, it'd be great if Infuse could display unprocessed subtitles rather than its own font. Many/most fansub groups will use stylised subtitles for the opening/ending karaoke, or sometimes to overlay translations on signs and products.

1 on the wish list has to be flawless playback – framerate handling, subtitles, etc. – as I'd imagine that's the main draw of the app for most.

Next on my list would be full output support for HD audio formats. Whether it gets passed through to the receiver or losslessly software-decoded to LPCM first, I'm not sure I much care, as long as the full audio gets to my receiver. If there are any technical reasons why this is not feasible, and not just a matter of implementation effort or licensing, I'd be very interested to hear about them. (Before anyone points out that this is an Apple limitation and that the device doesn't support these formats, I know it doesn't support them natively. What's not clear is whether it's impossible to do them in software.)

The design of the main info screen for a given video is a bit weird – I don't really like the way navigating to an episode of a TV show or another movie changes the state of the info shown above, rather than serving as a shortcut to another place in the UI hierarchy. See Plex for an alternative handling of a similar UI. It would also be nice for Infuse to support some actual analysis of the contents of videos (resolution, audio format), and show little badges for that info here. Additionally, for the "resume playback" feature added in 4.0.1, it might be nice to actually show the timestamp it will resume from when selecting whether to resume or start from the beginning.

As for general metadata/library features, I'm fine if Infuse would rather not pursue being a full-on library solution, like Plex or Kodi, and stick to being more of a folder-browser with some metadata enhancements. (Doing more elaborate library stuff – recently added, on deck, etc. – would probably require scheduled or manual deep folder scans, whereas Infuse only updates metadata on demand when you navigate to a given folder.) But some small improvements could be made. The "Recently Added" Top Shelf seems to have a bug, as its easy to produce duplicate entries for the same video. (Play video A, back out and go play video B, then back out and play video A again – two entries for video A, which looks a little silly.)

The main home screen of the app could use a little love. There's probably no need for the app logo and "Favorites" heading to take up so much space – it could probably be put on the same "line"/height as the Settings icon. That would make room for more favourites visible at once, or even the Recently Played to be shown here to. The actual Favorites items could maybe also be dressed up a little, perhaps by pulling posters from the videos contained within.

You can change the name when you create the favourite. For example, when I was testing which was the best protocol to use during the beta period, I named mine "Movies (SMB)" and "Movies (UPnP). Of course, you are correct that once created you cannot rename them, but you can always recreate them and just let the metadata download again.

Firecore are following the design cues of Infuse on the iPad. This too has a large Infuse logo over the top of a favourites list, and these presently are adorned by nothing other than a star. Not suggesting that it's the best interface design, but imagine that if it is to change on the Apple TV, it would probably need to change in the IOS app too.
