Wow! This was suggested back in 2016?!

It's such a no-brainer, must have feature for anyone with a large library.

Please add soon. Please.

I am not a huge fan of IMDB, Rotten Tomatoes is better aligned with my taste, but either is better than none....

But the lack of trailers is a really weird omission for an app which serves as a front end for movies collections.

Exactly!

And there are great databases out there.

for example, https://www.traileraddict.com/thefilms
and they have APIs: https://www.traileraddict.com/trailerapi
You want the last three trailers released for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

http://api.traileraddict.com/?film=curious-case-benjamin-button&count=3

Maybe you could develop your own in-house solution.

I really wish someone at Firecore would address the trailer and ratings omission.

We just got Plex integration today, and I am grateful. But the fact is, I have stopped using Plex since I got Infuse, so it's kind of meh.

On the other hand, I've been struggling with the lack of ratings and trailers. If I want to chose a movie with my girlfriend or a friend, I've resorted to opening the Squire app (which provides Rotten Tomatoes ratings AND trailers) to show them the ratings and the trailer, then if they like what they see, I have to go back and play the movie through Infuse (because Squire has playback issues).

I still find this omission puzzling, as this is a front end for movie libraries, yet it doesn't offer movie ratings or trailers....

The current situation means I need to use the actual Plex app on the Apple TV when selecting a movie with my wife. Once we decide on what to watch, we have to switch over to Infuse to actually play it. It feels pretty silly.

We really need trailers in Infuse.

I think I remember infuse team saying they can’t fetch trailers from YouTube, or maybe they have difficulty adding trailers from third party sources, but surely now you have plex integration they can fetch trailers from the plex server(for Plex pass users) easily like mrmc have done with their plex client. You guys added a refresh button for plex, why not automatically show a trailer button if the movie has one on the plex server? Surely It’s better than nothing, it’s been nearly 2 years for a trailer button request.

I wish James or someone with inside knowledge would let us know what the issue is, if there is an issue.

Other apps don't seem to have problems pulling trailers, I don't see why Infuse would.

In theory your're correct, however in order to be able to preview trailers in PLEX, you would need a paid PLEX Pass account which I am assuming wouldn't help much for non PLEX Pass users who want to use that feature in Infuse while connected to their PLEX Server.

MrMC is pulling trailers from plex server with no issues. It's possible, they just need to figured it out. I can't believe that such a good app dosent have trailers..

Infuse has Plex integration now so why not include Plex pass features as well? It’s the same with the Plex app if I don’t pay I can’t fetch trailers.

I don’t understand why I’m being penalised, for something I’m paying for, with users without a Plex pass or users using others protocols in infuse.

Only reason non Plex pass users are worried is because then they think they will never get trailers if this feature is added, but It’s already been 2 years for this request so I’m not sure infuse have found a way to add trailers for all users.

Your reasoning does make sense from a PLEX Pass users perspective like yourself and I, but saying that you are being "penalized" for a service that you are paying PLEX for on a third party integration on Infuse and not getting VIP access on Infuse to it is far fetched. That would create fragmentation and will pretty much force Infuse Pro users to have to fork out an additional $4.99 a month to PLEX for a service that isn't advertised from them to work on Infuse Pro just to be able to preview trailers.

*** I would hope that Infuse figures out a proprietary trailer integration from IMDB or iTunes Trailers. ***

  • I can only see PLEX trailers feature being integrated and added to infuse Pro if and when viewing trailers on PLEX becomes a free feature and doesn't require a paid PLEX Pass membership

I disagree that infuse shouldn’t use Plex pass features, that means your against having home users as well? which is a Plex pass feature, James has already said they are looking into that, so why not trailers. Mrmc Plex client uses Plex pass features, no ones complained on their forums.

I wouldn't say that I am complaining, I'm looking at it as a key feature that should be an Infuse Pro "feature" and not just a third party add-on option.
I do however have to agree with you on the PLEX Home Users feature being added as well.

I am not quite understanding the issue with pulling trailers from an outside service, like YouTube or IMDB.

Is it a rights issue? If so, aren't there open source alternatives?

Personally, I use Plex much less now that I have Infuse, so I'd rather not rely on it....

I don't think Infuse should implement Plex Pass features... Although I would love to have trailers and an option to have different users, I think Infuse should implement those features on it's own to every Infuse user... I'm already paying for Infuse Pro, why should I have to pay an extra $5 for Plex features? If they were to implement every Plex feature, they would become Plex. What would keep me from paying Infuse Pro if new features only came to those paying Plex Pass?

Well it’s been 2 years for a trailer request, so they’re either having difficulty or just haven’t looked into it, but all I’m saying is infuse can fetch trailers from the Plex server easily now, it doesn’t mean they can’t ever find a way to add trailers for all other users in the future.

Either way the infuse team haven’t said anything about trailers or IMDb/rotten ratings for some reason, so it doesn’t look good, 😔.

Trailers are needed.

I get that they can be fetched via Plex, etc. but please don't mix things up.

I would prefer a real, native feature from the InFuse team.

It would be nice to have a comment from the Infuse Team about that.

Hi, there!

It's been some time now.

Is it reasonable to ask for any commentary from the Infuse team?

Regards,

IGI

This topic cannot be allowed to die!

Please add trailers -- even if you're just pulling them from Plex!

@James - what is the technical or cost issue with allowing the option to play a movie trailer as Plex does for Plex Pass users? Currently I have to open up Plex with my wife and we start narrowing down what to watch using movie trailers. It’s awesome! Then after making our selection we close Plex and open Infuse, search for the movie and play it. This would save a lot of time and add greater value to Infuse. Please add it to the roadmap, provide a progress report or generally your thoughts on the matter. Much appreciated, Mike.
