Some files are not playing anymore

Probably since version 5.5.3 or 5.5.2 (maybe sooner, but this is the first time i noticed it) some files are not playing anymore. They are videos in MKV container, encoded in h264, however 1080i, created as native capture of DVB-T broadcast. These files were working for a long time before you probably made changes because of h265 support or tvOS 11 support. Is this a known bug or a bug you could fix? I could provide you some sample file if you need it.
These problems occur on both Apple TV 2015 and Apple TV 4K .

To specify : not playing, in this case, means that there is no error shown, only a black screen with all controls, length of the video is correctly loaded and position on the time axis is jumping 10s per second.

Hmm, any chance you’d be able to send in a sample we could test here?

I uploaded you a sample, filename is not-working-sample.mkv .

Got it, thanks! We’ll take a look and see what’s going on there.

Thanks, i hope you will resolve this issue soon

I just have the same problem.
Has a solution been available in the meantime?

Same issue here. But with additional info:

MKV on Synology NAS → AppleTV 4K → Infuse = not working
MKV on Synology NAS → iPhone 7 → Infuse = working

Same issue here

MKV on Synology NAS → AppleTV 4K → Infuse = not working? :frowning: ?
MKV on Synology NAS → iPad > Infuse = working
MKV on Synology NAS → iMac 4K > Infuse = working

I am just confirming, that my original issue does not occur on iOS version, only on Apple TV.

iMac 4K and Infuse is working?

I have problem with files like this on ATV gen4

Hello, unfortunately after 5.6 update, this issue is still not solved :frowning:

Also here still the same problem. Very strange?

Downloaded MrMC… and the files play perfectly. So I guess it’s not an AppleTV issue but a bug in Infuse.

Hopefully it will get fixed in next version

After all recent updates still the same problem :frowning:
Frustrating why certain files suddenly do not work anymore, where it used to work without a problem.

VLC and PLex do play these specific files, why not with infuse?

I would like to ask the staff for an update about status of this bug, many people reported here the same issue, there has been 3 releases since my initial report and the bug is still unresolved. Thank you for your response.

This in on our todo list, and we hope to have a resolution soon.

Thanks for your patience.

Update.

This should be resolved in the upcoming 5.6.3 version which we are hoping to submit to Apple this week.

Thanks for your patience.

Thanks for the solution
