It's a CS407, a very old NAS πŸ˜‰
But as it works perfect for 4k files with android box or oppo 203 player I don't want to change it know 😊

Hi' James

what playback improvements have been done in version 5.6.3 ? Because in version 5.3.1 i had buffering every 3-4 min with a spinning Wheel.
After the 5.6.2 updated my buffering issue was gone and now just updated to 5.6.3 and its back.
I have not change anything in my setup.

I've having the same issue with playing back 4K videos from my Synology NAS on my ATV4K. When I playback using DLNA using my TV's built in client (LG OLED B6P) it's fine, no buffering at all. When I use Infuse, every couple of minutes I get buffering, so I don't believe it's a network problem. It is possible that the the LG player can handle videos better than Infuse on an ATV4K? Both TV and ATV4K are wireless.

Same thing for me play my 4k videos on my oppo udp-203 its fine and with infuse 5.6.3 buffering all the time on my atv4k or iPhone X. Was fine with infuse 5.6.2 so i don't know what have changed.

I am also experiencing more buffering issues with 4K files since the upgrade to 5.6.3. This was definitely not the case with 5.6.2!

Maybe you didn't read other posts, but when we say that it works perfect with other players ( SHIELD TV, ZAPPITI 4K,Oppo 203) it means that the problem is not the nas πŸ˜‰

It is the NasπŸ˜€
Why i got no Problems with all of my Movies ?
The difference is only the Nas in the Setup.
I use wired 1gbit and smb and no DLNA...Check it .

I am using an iMac with smb and direct attached storage that delivers > 1GB/s read performance. Both the iMac and Apple TV4k are connected with 1Gb Ethernet network to the same TimeCapsule and I now see buffering issues with most of the 4K files with version 5.6.3 which I didn’t experience on 5.6.2 for most of the same files! So for me that means it is Infuse causing these issues.

Dlna is big s%*t 😁
I can play all 4k movies with all my other players with ethernet, but only with wifi on apple TV, so why it's working with wifi and not with ethernet?
It's not a nas problem 😊

Does not change anything with nfs πŸ˜‰
I think and it was said few post ago, that problem maybe from smb3 which is needed with Apple TV 4k, maybe you have smb3 with your NAS, mine is old and has only smb2, but as everything works well with all others players in 4K and with wifi on my Apple TV, I'm gonna stay like that 😁
Maybe things will change in the future for guys who have problem with ethernet πŸ˜‰
Regards all guys and enjoy with Atv 4K 😊

I just tested NFS instead of smb and this doesn't make any difference.. every couple of minutes (sometimes within seconds) a spinning wheel. I have updated the /etc/nsmb.conf file as I explained in my earlier message and this improved the smb performance substantially and solved the buffering issue but that was when I was using version 5.6.2. This new 5.6.3 is definitely given a lot of issues 😞 This only occurs with 4K files (not with 1080p)!

Exact same problem for me i try everything smb , nfs , wired , Wireless etc
Only occurs with 4K files the issues was solved with infuse 5.6.2 but come back with version 5.6.3.
I can't watch a movie with a spinning Wheel always show up sec or minutes...

Works flawlessly with my oppo udp-203

For those who are seeing trouble (particularly those seeing a change from 5.6.2 to 5.6.3) please send in a report and open a support ticket so we can look into what may be going on.

A quick update. There were actually no changes related to buffering in 5.6.3, and we haven't been able to replicate any similar issues here.

However, 5.6.4 with a handful of general improvements is being submitted to Apple today, and will hopefully be approved soon. Give this a try once it's out and let us know if you continue to have trouble.

Additionally, there has been a lot of good progress lately on the all new SMB implementation we have been working on, and we're hoping to have that available in early 2018...potentially in January. We believe this new implementation will resolve a number of reports related to SMB performance and reliability (especially when using iOS 11) which should allow for a much better experience overall.

Popping back in to say that I've experienced a similar downgrade in terms of buffering going from 5.6.2 to 5.6.3 unfortunately. I've tried both the wired and wireless options as well as re-syncing my NAS share multiple times. Sorry to see this issue pop up again

Hello,
It seems that with the last IOS beta firmware everything is fine with 4K and ethernet network.
I tested files and no buffering with 4K files and smb 2 NAS settings Wink
The issue was from IOS and not from infuse I think, I'm gonna test with a full movie et tell you soon Wink
regards

Checking back in to see if other's are having similar problems with 5.6.4 regarding 4K buffering. I'm still getting the buffer wheel every 4-5 minutes on the high end, sometimes as bad as 2-3 seconds with some shows. Submitted a diagnostics report to give a better explanation of what's going on.

Any updates regarding the downgrade of streaming from 5.6.2 to 5.6.4?

This is great to hear- do you mind pointing me towards where I can sign up for the Apple Beta firmware to test this out? Appreciate it, costaud!
