https://thedigitaltheater.com/dolby-trailers/

I found 2 files on this site that were DD+ with atmos. Sadly most atmos test files are true hd.

Add those files to your iTunes library on your computer. Enable home sharing and then go to the computers app on your Apple TV and you should see the files.

Thanks, so theese mkv-files needs to be converted to mp4 also? Any program recommended for that?
For example, VLC can convert. But do I get the atmos sound if I convert to any of the outputs in the picture?

I can only see one file there
Nature's Fury (Dolby Digital Plus ATMOS)
but that file was not mp4, it was an mkv.

Format audio is automatic and dolby atmos is available. I bought program from you Infuse Pro 5. In settings in program Infuse audio output is automatic. In settings Infuse is share where is synchronized server synology in which i have all my films. My question is.. film which is in Dolby Atmos, so on receiver on Input is Multi PCM 7.1 and output is only 5.1.2. Why it can’t play in Dolby Atmos?

Welcome to the forum!

Have you read the first post in this thread that explains about what happened to Atmos and a recommended course of action? I know this thread is a bit long in the tooth but the first post boils it down. Smile

Hi there, I'm new to infuse since I was not aware it existed....
I recently bought an AppleTV4K because I also have a Dolby Atmos system and Netflix has a growing content of Dolby Atmos which is amazing!!...
I also have PLEX installed on the 4K and PLEX plays Dolby Atmos without a glitch. Problem is the videoplayer of PLEX, only a few formats are recognised.
Must say that Infuse has played ALL my local video content seamlessly...BIG downside of Infuse to me is the lack of Dolby Atmos support which questions me: why does PLEX supports Dolby Atmos and Infuse not? Is this a matter of Apple granting Infuse to support Dolby Atmos or the lack of support/development from Infuse??
I'm willing to pay €55,- (yes I live in Europe...) for a PRO version but only if I can use it as a PRO which means support of HDR/Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos..we'll see what comes up with version-6.....

Welcome to the forum!

Did you by chance see the first post in this thread where it talks about Apple restricting Atmos after a tvOS update? That is the purpose of this thread is to get folks to submit requests to Apple to allow apps to have access to Atmos passthru for local content.

Hi, I guess I missed this (reminds me again why I'm not a fan of Apple, perhaps should've bought an nVidia Shield...)...thanx for pointing it out! Filed a request to Apple straight away!

I'm not a specialist but I did some research and as far as I found out:
- PCM is uncompressed so exactly the same as the master sound, but often limited to max 24bit/48kHz due to the file size
- DTS(ES/6.1 Discrete) (lossy compression with a higher bitrate and somtimes also hogher volume than Dolby Digital)
- DTS HD Master Audio (lossless compessed to max 24bit/96kHz and after decodering exact the same als the master, takes approx. 1/3rd of whatt PCM does, so more room for video)
- DTS HD High Resolution Audio (lossy gecompressed to max 24bit/96kHz, but with a much higher bitrate and resolution than the standard DTS. As for sound quality just a bit lower than DTS HD MA)
- Dolby TrueHD (lossless gecompressed to max 24bit/96kHz and after decodering exacty the same as the master, takes approx. 1/3rd of what PCM does, so more room for video)
- Dolby Digital(EX) (lossy compression, on dvd often 448 kbit/s or lower and on bluray usually 640kbit/s)

Now for your answer: I guess the sound is the same in your case, only the recognition if the sound format within Infuse is different when using android..
I have another issue when playing DTS wave files (filename.dts.wav), they just don't (they're not even recognised...) while when I use VLC player on my media server every file plays...
The more I've been using Infuse lately, the more issues I come up with, as sound formats are concerned....(video plays all untill now)...so still not convinced in buying a lifetime license...

It’s because Apple does not support bitstream. All audio is rendered as Uncompressed PCM. This is by design at Apple.

It’s not a bug it’s by design. You’re heading surround. Instead of your receiver deciding it your Apple TV is doing all the heavy lifting and sending the audio to your receiver. Xbox one and PlayStation 4 do a similar thing. I suggest read through the thread as there are posts that go into detail about the whole thing.

This really is a Firecore / Infuse forum folks. How about troubleshooting mrmc on their forum.

I gave up waiting for Apple and bought the OSMC/Kodi box. Works like a charm, brilliant picture and sound without limitations. Good luck guys, hope I can be back to infuse/Apple TV soon. Frown

Yes. I looked for something most similar to Apple 4k, and (of course) that's impossible to find, but Vero is in my case better option than overpowered and overstuffed machines like nVidia Shield or full-featured mini-Windows PC. It does most of the things very well. Skin is all right. Remote is fine. It just works. After years on ATV and infuse, I can say the picture is as perfect as it should be, and of course, Atmos, DTS:X all works. My AVR is finally done with PCM only Grin

Finally, of course, I don't have to remind you that OS-wise, it is not, and it will never be tvOS and infuse level of perfect, but at the moment it is a better option for me, at least until Apple allow pass through.

Hey - pcm means APTV does the audio processing instead of the AVR. I personally don’t mind that because I have did lots of testing and for me it sounds very good. HOWEVER I personally like bitsreaming because then you can be sure the AVR is getting and decoding the proper codec (atmos, etc). because it says what it’s playing. With PCM I find it difficult to tell what sound codec is actually being used/ played.

I love ATV 4k plus Infuse but for me LPCM is no good. I bought Nvidia Shield and it works perfectly, cannot believe why ATV does not let atmos passthrough while other media players do. Sorry ATV plus Infuse but Nvidia Shield is way better than you Smile At least for now...
