MKV Subtitles on UHD HDR10/DOLBY VISION MEDIA

Hello,

I am considering purchasing an ATV4K just to play my UHD HDR10/DV mkv over NFS stored on my NAS.
My question may seem obvious but since its the main reason I may be purchasing this device, here it goes:

Does the software plays mkv uhd hdr10/dv files with embeed subtitles?

My LG C9 webOS does play the files but not the embeed subtitle track if the file is UHD (weird bug).

Thanks,
Also, if admin replies, which forum software is this?

yes plays them fine, I have both HDR10 and DV files and subs all work no problem.

DV in mkv container? not possible, mkv support only HDR.

I am new to this. Filename is .mkv and file info is like so:

I think this is ISO but It’s not important Infuse can play only HDR10.

Infuse can play DV. I have files in DV. I have just checked however and they are in mp4 format. Play fine with embedded subs.

Thanks guys. Mostly I was checking if the subtitles works fine with any file.
I was kinda worried because my WebOS does not play embed subs specifically on UHD files which is weird.

I have the ATV4K64GB in my hands right now. Gonna set it up later today.

Best regards,

tvOS will only play HDR10 when dual video track Dolby vision movies. You can convert them to single layer with DVDfab.

We talking about mkv.

Infuse do Dolby vision in their latest update

What program are you using to remux in to mp4?

I use DVDfab. They need to be converted from dual layer to single layer first.

Is this a lossy re-encode?

For video yes for audio no. It has to be in an MP4 container and getting lossless audio into the container can be problematic. If you want a full lossless experience you’ll have to go with an oppo media player (or a chinese copy with hacked firmware).
