The latest SeasonPass supports an untethered jailbreak of the 4.4.4 firmware.  Now that is available I cannot see why you need/want a tethered jailbreak?

yeh, i expected it untethered, but when i ran it that option was greyed out. no biggie, as i have the right usb cable for it.

I got PLEX running on 4.4.4 using SSH instructions. In the playback settings I have it set to audio: AC3 capable receiver YES and video: 10.0 Mbps (1080p). Video plays fine as does AC3. How do I enable DTS?

I installed Plex with jaredm.4004's instructions. It's working fine, but since my family is already using MediaPlayer and Plex makes things too complicated for them (=for me to teach them one more app)

Could someone please tell me how to uninstall it?

I don't know anything about Terminal, but I can follow good instructions and copypaste commands.

do you have a mac? i only know the terminal way. if mac, open terminal app and then past the commands from 2).

im pretty sure this is how to simply uninstall it. if this isnt right post again and i should be able to find the correct commands.

Be sure your Apple TV2 is on

1) Start Terminal on your iMac

2) Type: ssh root@apple-tv.local

3) Type: alpine (the password)

4) Type: echo "deb http://www.ambertation.de ./downloads/PLEX/" > /etc/apt/sources.list.d/plex.list

5) Type: apt-get remove com.plex.client-plugin

okay, if plex is all up and running cool then it is a network thing. i have had this in the past and had to go into the network settings and re enter the server name and password, ie; your mac's wifi name and the password for your mac.

on your atv, go to plex -> settings - > server    and select your mac name. then the settings comes up with server name (just your macs name) username (your mac user name) and then the password for your mac.

hope this helps, if not, we will keep trying. Smile

hey, sorry about the delay.

for a clean install:

Instructions how to get PLEX (0.90 beta 4) on a Jailbreaked Apple TV 2 (4.4.4):
Be sure your Apple TV2 is on
1) Start Terminal on your iMac

2) Type: ssh
root@apple-tv.local
3) Type: alpine (the password)

4) Type: echo "deb http://www.ambertation.de ./downloads/PLEX/" > /etc/apt/sources.list.d/plex.list

5) Type: apt-get remove com.plex.client-plugin

6) Type: apt-get update

7) Type: apt-get install com.plex.client-plugin=0.0.9.0.0-312c11b0

Now your Apple TV2 should reset and when its starters there is PLEX.
(hint: you can also copy => paste the lines in terminal)

thanks to iFred...

i hope this works for you. strange that the only error you were getting was the error loading content. really makes me lean towards a network issue. if reinstall doesnt work, maybe try turning off your wireless router, etc and testing the network connection via plex?

good luck!

For people running the latest firmware 4.4.4 try Plex 0.9.0.0 beta 4 works great.

This is quite misleading... it doesn't work with 1080p movies...

Yea, this version of Plex works when playing SD movies.

It is a disaster with 1080p movies. (Same 1080p movies play flawlessly with plex on my iPad2)

I tried to go back to earlier versions  but the ATV won't start up...

I will re-JB today again and install an earlier version...
