Hi All,

Can't find any reference to this issue, for some reason the jailbreak is failing with a failesystem patching failed error. I'm on the latest Mac OS, Itunes and Seas0npass. Any ideas??

You may try repairing your Mac's disk permissions through the Disk Utility app.

More info on this process can be found here: http://www.simplehelp.net/2007/05/14/how-to-re...

I'm having the exact same problem and repairing disk permissions did not help. I am also on the latest versions of everything.

Any other ideas?

Sorry for the delay, been trying to help do this on a friends ATV from the other side of the atlantic and they are not technical:) Updated the mac to the latest OS with updates, did the fixes suggested and then went for the Greenpois0n jailbreak and all worked (eventually!).

Thanks for the assistance

We've tracked this issue down to a conflict with 'Filevault'.

Disabling Filevault will correct the issue - or just use GreenPois0n for now.

Or...

  1. create a new user (temporarily) with Filevault turned off (thus leaving the Filevault settings for your own username intact);
  2. login as the new user;
  3. copy or download seas0npass to the new user's homedirectory and continue necessary steps.

...tested it and worked for me.

I got the very same error.  I was NOT running file vault.  The fix for me was the simple fact Seas0nPass must be in your home dir.  I had it in a downloads dir which apparently causes the error.

Thanks soufle...  That fixed it for me too.

Maybe they will fix this issue in the future.

Thanks to this thread I finally got this working - pretty crazy that it's taken over 7 months to get any utility in return for the money.  I tried creating a new user, that didn't work - it just hung on the unzip.  I tried copying to the home directoy, that didn't work.  Finally I got it working by copying the seasonpass app to the root directory (Macintosh HD on my system) and that worked - I presume because that is not FileVaulted.  I'm glad I saw this thread to at least give me the idea, but I am seriously annoyed with FireCore for the shoddy documentation/suppot for this paid for prodiuct of theirs.

Looks like I’m having a very similar problem. Moved the app around -- desktop, root directory, home directory. No luck. Repaired permissions. FileVault isn’t on.

Copying Seas0n Pass to the 'Computer' directory and then running it worked for me.

Please please please consider updating all documentation on this site before releasing version 1.0.  For beta software, this is expected to some degree, and I know you are all busy, but the install video is way out of date, and installing Seas0n Pass should be rolled into other software if it's necessary.

Home directory is like C drive on windows. it contains the folders named Applications, Desktop, Documents, Downloads etc. If you open Finder and have the sidebar showing (a directory on the left hand side) then your computer name should be located there with a little house icon.

To move the seasonpass app from downloads to the home directory go to your downloads folder and just drag it to the home folder.

im not the most computer savvy person myself, but from what i can gather one key difference between windows and mac is that in mac you can download and launch applications without actually installing them locally. however they wont have full access to your system and therefore may not work properly unless you install them locally. often when installing apps they will appear greyed out until you drag their icon to the dock to complete the installation.

please feel free to correct me if im wrong Smile

I'm having the same issue. I have 5.2 on my Apple TV 2. I get an error:

Filesystem Patches failed!!

I don't have file vault enabled, have the latest version of Seas0nPass. I have launched Seas0nPass from downloads folder, desktop and HD. Always the same error.

I have tried from x2 different MacBook Pros with the same result?!?!?

Does anyone have any ideas?

I just got past this screen by setting up a new apple user account. It must be a software conflict!

Obviously the new user account doesn't have hardly any software running so it works well. I am now gettign stuck on another issue. Seas0nPass shows a successful install screen at the end but iTunes says:

The Apple TV "Apple TV" could not be restored, because the file with the software is not compatible

Completely stuck on this now!!!!

Not sure why so many error issues with Seas0nPass. Is there any other jailbreaking software like Seas0nPass out there?

I also created new user account on my MacBook Pro but at the end I still got error.

FireCore please fix this error on your Seas0nPass.

Thanks,

having this same issue, I actually was able to get to the connect the apple TV step but I was not able to enter DFU mode.  Then I wasn't by my TV so I thought I would try again tonight.  Now I am having the same issue again of failesystem patching failed error.  I have created a new user and I have repaired permissions.  No luck, hopefully someone figures this out soon!

Never had this before… I'm on Snow Leopard 10.6.8. Move the app to the home dir, the root, desktop… Run disk util… don't use Filevault… Same error over and over again: Filesystem patches failed.

YAAAH! This worked for me:

First, make sure you have the file called "evasion.tgz" from here:https://dl.dropbox.com/u/72403274/evasi0n.tgz

If your OS automatically decompressed it so the file suffix is something else, download it again by right-clicking the above link and selecting "Download Linked File As." The file has to remain named as "evasion.tgz". It should not be unzipped.

Locate the SeasonPass.app and right-click on it and select "Show Package Contents." This will open a new window containing a folder called "Contents." Tunnel down through the folders "Resources" and "Bundles" until you locate the file "Appletv2,1_5.2_10B144b.bundle." Right-click on this and select "Show Package Contents." You should see a file called "evasion.tgz." Replace this file with the one you downloaded from the link provided above.

Now run SeasonPass and jailbreak your Apple TV.

Worked for me as well  Blush

ATV2 now happily jailbroken.

So, now the next problem. Why does XBMC crash every time I try to connect to my iMac? On to the next forum…  Frown

Anyway -- thanks! :(

I have managed to Jailbreak my ATV2 5.2. In the end after constantly failing with my two MacBook Pro's I tried on someone's PC

i used to get the error message:

The Apple TV "Apple TV" could not be restored, because the file with the software is not compatible

I tried to jailbreak on a PC, initially this failed with iTunes still displaying this error. Tried the same process a few more times and for some reason it just worked??

Make sure iTunes is most up to date version too

Hi all, we've been working to track down a few reported issues and think we may have solved them.

If you're getting the 'filesystem patches failed' error would you mind trying the build of Seas0nPass found at the link below to see if it resolves your issue?

<link removed>

Please let us know how it goes. Thanks!

Update 2/23: This fixed has been rolled into a new public release of Seas0nPass available at http://seas0npass.com
