I think I prefer option 1, even though it's not as "native"… It just looks way better! Grin

Plus can we delete unwanted icons and rearrange them to our preference?

Its seems to be a landslide victory for option 1. Option 1 is definitely nicer IMO.

Option one is ridiculous — option two is miles better. There's no reason to disrupt an entire interface to avoid a single press of a button.

Option 1, as it provides for a much better user experience. Every click-through counts! Also, can you please consider integrating a separate/new main menu button to "Sleep Now"? Thank you!

I'll be the odd man out, option #2 please.  Because, imho it seems the most future proof.  Each time Apple updates iOS 5 it will further add to Firecore's development effort and time-to-release and I think iOS 5 provides a glimpse of the future; certainly each channel Apple adds will come with its own icon in the second tier or below.

I would much rather the fireCore team focus its efforts on developing functionality that permits "voting" up or down any of the aTV icons within the other tiers.  For example navigate to an icon, hold the select key down until it visually changes (dare i say wiggles :P) and then use the remote's arrows to move the aTV black icon (or others) anywhere within the second and subsequent rows.

Forignthinker was thinking the exact same thing as me, so I would like to offer my support for Option 2.  Option 1 looks terrible.  It's very cluttered and not ascetically pleasing.  I can live with clicking the down button on my remote a few times to keep the original look and feel of the device.  Option 2 also looks much more integrated.  Why change what works?

Now if you can reorder the apps in the lower section, I think Option 1 and Option 2 would be the best of both worlds.  Would it really be that bad to be required to click the down button once?

You have changed my mind, Option 2 with the option of rearranging the order or deleting the lower tier icons.... functionality to facilitate future upgrades is more important than having one less button to click in the short term, I hope others on this forum can see the long term benefits Vs the short term gains?

I know I'm in the minority, but I quite prefer option 2. It looks better, and is more consistent.

I much prefer Option 2, assuming the idea is to have buttons each of the additional features like Last.FM, XBMC, Nito, etc.

Humm.  I just realized that we would lose the Top Shelf access with option 2.  Is there a technical reason for this?  That is a pretty nice feature, but I am still leaning toward Option 2 even if that is still lost.

Option 2.

I like the idea of maintaining the existing UI structure. Feels more original.

I understand why people like 1. This is just my opinion

Just chatted with my wife and we really like the interface of #1 but would be okay with the Media button being on row 2 - thus maintaining the 5 button UI. Personally, I hate the buttons and would be happy to see them go and maintain the previous look and feel of 4.4.4. OR, optionally, provide an option to remove the buttons and have the original appearance - I have no use for most of those apps / buttons. The new ATV GUI is quite gross overall.

Once you scroll to row 2 (or lower) the focus of the screen goes from the top shelf view (http://fireco.re/F1hT) to just a screen of icons (http://fireco.re/F0rb).

Infuse 6 for iOS and Apple TV is now available!
