Option #2a, and option 1b inside that

This way you would keep the original apple 5 tile/row design, the implementation would be the quickest, and a single click down gets us to media for quick access.

Also could you make it so we could hide some tiles we don't use? (like in a ATV flash settings menu or hold the menu button, icons start to wiggle, then pressing play hides that icon, or something)

I don't know if this is possible, but can you make it so all the icons are sortable? That would satisfy both options, since users could reorder the icons on the top row and bottom rows to put them in the order they use most. It would keep the UI consistent with all other iOS devices (since you can move icons anywhere you want) and give users a more "app" like experience.

Option 2 is far more consistent with the interface style. Also there will come more favorite apps for sure.  You can't have them all in the top bar either.

So compromise: make it a user's choice - top bar (and switch off one of the default icons) or just as an additional regular app icon.

If you won't / can't make it configurable I choose for option 2 !

The main reason for me to utilise aTV Flash is for its abilitie to play other movie data that I have stored on my NAS.

so the quicker and easer I can navigate to that data, the better.

If my vote counts at all, I would say that option one.

Although it may take longer to intergrate Option 1 is my preferred option.

I would like to have an Option to define Favorites as on the "old" iOS for the App Buttons.
The Apps can be configured in the imagined Firecore Extras App. See Attached screenshot.

So someone could replace the orginal Apple Apps or it could be used in that way that stored media is separated from rented/rentable media.

One could also create then a Favorite for Music and Pictures, since not all of us use iCloud, but for shure like the Interface.

Here is a Screenshot. Would something like that be possible.

I hope somthing like this could be done Smile

Looks awesome. Is this Photoshopped, or a real jail broken screenshot?

Well it looks likes I'm out-voted so far but I'd like to see Option 2 across the board.  Adding the extra icon to that row just makes it look un-Apple.  Perhaps you can "pin" your Media icon to the first position in the second row?

That looks awful! How can you ruin the UI like that, it just doesn't look refined as the original apple layout.  Option 2 http://fireco.re/F0rb with http://fireco.re/F1SS from Option 1 would be a good compromise, this would make ATV Flash a seamless integration into the Apple TV and make a more unified experience for the user, isn't that why we all buy apple products!!!!!!!!

Thats my rant over with.  ATV Flash is an amazing product, James and all at Firecore keep up the good work.

Many Thanks

The UI isn't final just yet, and there are a few changes in the works that should bring the best of both worlds.

Stay tuned.  Wink

No ETA just yet, but it's looking like it will be ready in days/weeks as opposed to weeks/months.

let's set up a game.

who vote for the release of the new 5.0 sometimes next week, and who is voting for 2 weeks from now. and who think it will be 3 weeks or later.

so we have:

option A. it is comiong out the coming week.

option B. it is coming out in 2nd week from now.

option C. it is coming out in the third week from now, or later.

i vote and think option A.

it is coming out next Wed. or Thur.

oh...James...you can vote too.  lol.

I also think option #1 (six icons) is too cluttered. It throws off the whole balance of the UI.

Now if you can add Media to the top row and demote the Settings icon, that would be great. Barring that, I'd say option #2 is the best.

But as always, if users can choose a layout, that'd satisfy all.  :-)

Finally, the red of the Media icon seems too orange — it looks too similar to the Music icon color. Maybe a deeper red, like the Firecore header? Frankly you can even go gray.
