Does this upgrade enable aTV1 to do mirroring with an iPad?

Submitted by tchazmat on November 1, 2011 - 11:22am

OUTSTANDING ! ! ! good to know your still thinking about #1 (ATV-1)

Submitted by james on November 1, 2011 - 11:23am

Unfortunately mirroring is not yet supported. Sorry.

Submitted by jagoodie on November 1, 2011 - 11:27am

This is just for AirPlay audio, right? Still no video?

Are there instructions for how to go about doing the updates?

Thanks for keeping up the great work! Cheers!

Submitted by Anon on November 1, 2011 - 11:29am

Mirroring of my Ipad is really something that you guys should enable. What is the streaming support then?

Submitted by Anon on November 1, 2011 - 11:34am

Awesome! I was hoping gen1 was lost for good

Submitted by james on November 1, 2011 - 11:36am

Both audio and video are supported.

A short video demo of Remote HD in action has been added to the post.

Oh wow. Oh wow. Oh wow.

Will these NFS instructions apply to the ATV2 Flash (black) as well?  Or is this strictly for ATV1 users?

I also am pleased to see continuing support for 1st gen ATV. Thanks.

My ATV often stumbles when trying to play some mkv files. Amy suggestions as to how to handle this, other than conversion to another format?

Submitted by Anon on November 1, 2011 - 11:51am

I found the same troubles with mine, but if I dropped the actual display settings down on my Apple TV to (I think) 720p that stopped happening when I played mkv files in XBMC

Submitted by james on November 1, 2011 - 11:56am

There are a few things you can try to improve MKV playback.

  1. Change file playback mode to Quicktime in nitoTV --> Settings --> General
  2. Disable the 'Apple H.264' item located in the Maintenance --> Settings menu.
  3. Restart the AppleTV.

Submitted by james on November 1, 2011 - 11:57am

The NFS instructions are for ATV1 users only. The ATV2 does not yet support NFS streaming. Sorry.

Is the AirPlay feature compatible with Remote HD Lite, or just the full version? Thank you for bringing AirPlay to the original apple tv!!

Submitted by Anon on November 1, 2011 - 12:09pm

If I go through Maintenance --> Manage Plugins menu all i get is "an error occurred"
I get this since years. I always need to download it from the website and make a new USB flash drive and start all over again...

What do I need to do so I can do it from aTV directly?

Submitted by james on November 1, 2011 - 12:16pm

If you're able to open a support ticket we can look into what may be going on.

Will this also work if i have a ATV2 and a ATV1 running in my house? (how will it know which one im watching?)

Submitted by james on November 1, 2011 - 12:29pm

Yes, the ATV1 and ATV2 will appear differently so you can know which you're connecting to.

Also, you can give each a unique name.

The ATV1 name can be changed in iTunes.

The ATV2 name can be changed through the ATV2's Settings --> General --> Name menu.

Are you guys going to bring Grid View in to ATV1?

Submitted by Anon on November 1, 2011 - 12:55pm

Hi,

Sounds great. I purchased ATV last week and was a little
disappointed that I couldn't get video to stream from my iPhone
4S. Could you tell me how I upgrade to 4.4 please?

Thanks

Submitted by Anon on November 1, 2011 - 12:58pm

Hi there, I'm happy to see this update. However, I'm getting an odd error when I attempt to use Airplay from my macbook air's iTunes to my gen 1 ATV. I get an error in iTunes that reads: "An error occurred while connecting to the AirPlay device "Apple TV-RHD". An unknown error occurred (-50)."

Any idea why this is happening and how I can get airplay to stream movies? It works fine for audio.

Submitted by Remote HD Support on November 1, 2011 - 1:17pm

Full version is required to activate Remote HD plugin for ATV1.

I´m not able to download the .dmg. What´s the problem?

Submitted by Anon on November 1, 2011 - 1:31pm

I purchased ATV Flash years ago, but only purchased the one year subscription, not the forever option. Will I be able to update to this?

Submitted by Anon on November 1, 2011 - 1:35pm

I'm still not getting mine to work.
When I go to Mounts in NitoTV - Network and try to mount my drive, it gives me this:

"Network Mount Failed!
mount_smbfs: could not find mount point/mnt/Scratch/Volumes/Media: Socket is not connected"

I tried creating a new mount with the same information and this did not work either. I recently installed an external hard drive to my TimeCapsule and it was working fine prior to upgrading to LionOS.
Any ideas?

Ok...I updated the remote HD on the ATV gen 1 and now the error is "The selected video could not be played."

Does anyone know what is going on?

Submitted by stuartgmatthews on November 1, 2011 - 1:50pm

Just as lesleym I can't see anything in Mainteance that allows me to update - James can you please assist?

Submitted by stuartgmatthews on November 1, 2011 - 2:02pm

Unless you just update Remote HD?

Submitted by Anon on November 1, 2011 - 2:08pm

Part of iOS 5 is that any video from safari can be sent via AirPlay to an apple TV. This doesn't seem to be supported so what's the difference in what I had with remote HD before?

Submitted by henner.eurich on November 1, 2011 - 2:35pm

I have the same problem here; cannot install any updates through Maintenance, allways crashes before you can choose what to update. With older versions of avtflash it worked, I remember.

I'm getting an error when I attempt to add a folder on my mac to the NFS preference panel. This is what I did:

1) installed NFS preference panel

2) Added a folder

3) Pressed on "Apply", I'm asked to type my password to authenticate

4) I'm getting: Error 16: Failed to save changes. UUID changed for /, was 2104D921-E18A-38AE-9950-BCF57AD4BE39 now 7879267D-4E6A-3E91-8A6F-CE1FDE09070F

What do I do wrong?

Im able to stream movies from my Macbook Pro is there anyway i can also stream a DVD from the DVD drive on my MacBook Pro??

Great job by the way

Submitted by Anon on November 1, 2011 - 3:35pm

Awesome guys! Video and YouTube playback works great. Photo playback didn't work though. Very very happy ..... Keep up the good work

Submitted by james on November 1, 2011 - 3:48pm

Unfortunately not from the drive itself. You'd first need to backup the DVD using something like RipIt.

Submitted by james on November 1, 2011 - 3:49pm

Hmm - would you mind opening a support ticket?

Submitted by james on November 1, 2011 - 3:51pm

You should see updates for Maintenance and Sapphire via Maintenance --> Manage Plugins. The Remote HD update will be available through Maintenance --> Install Extras.

Submitted by james on November 1, 2011 - 3:52pm

If you're running Lion you will need to stream via NFS instead of SMB.

Details for streaming via NFS from Lion can be found here: http://support.firecore.com/entries/20631337
