still not supporting rmvb?

Submitted by mmma02 on February 8, 2012 - 6:26pm

Hi guys!

A couple of questions, I just installed XBMC and when I open the home screen the scrolling at bottom and the links/copy at top of screen are barely on screen. It is as if the zoom is on on tv. I checked the aspect ration on my tv (42 inch panasonic plasma), no change. Any suggestions? Also, I just downloaded version 1.2, will I need to pay again for 1.3?

Submitted by Anon on February 8, 2012 - 6:37pm

If you're still using RMVB you're doing it wrong.

Submitted by Anon on February 8, 2012 - 7:01pm

Which issue? I'd try checking the forums for your specific issue, most have been addressed already.

Submitted by Anon on February 8, 2012 - 7:03pm

This seems like an feature of very limited interest. What benefits would it provide that a basic search wouldn't?

Submitted by tristanjay on February 8, 2012 - 7:04pm

Thanks Ravi! Ill try that. My drama is NBA league pass in Australia does not have an Apple TV service under the Internet option. I do have the NBA app on my iPhone but when it airplays the quality is quite bad on my 50" TV.

Tried finding an airplay plugin for Safari but none seem to work to the Apple TV and the way the NBA live stream is displayed Im not sure if it would work the way I would like anyway.

So my last resort was hoping it would work on the FireCore Couch Surfer but alas does not support flash which is how the NBA stream there broadband games over the internet. If only the NBA caught up with the other major American sports and updated their site to HTML 5 rather than the slowly dying Flash Player!

Thanks

Are you running Plex? Read the other comments to see how others have fixed the constantly restarting issue.

Everyone knows the ATV2 supports the buttons on the little metal remote it came with (e.g. select, left, right, up, down, menu, play/pause).

What most people DON'T know is that also supports a few more buttons if you go to the settings and have it "learn" a different remote with more discrete buttons (play, pause, rewind, fast forward, skip back, skip forward).

If you want to be able to use those extra discrete buttons on a Harmony remote, go to the Apple TV's settings and have it "learn" your remote. Nothing to change on the Harmony itself.

Re: paying again - nope. Once you buy aTV Flash once, you're done.

As for the other issues, I'll leave it to one of the developers to try to help you (although you're probably better off posting in the forums).

Could someone explain to me where this update is? I updated one of my atv2s and lost all of the features of the jailbreak. It totally wiped out my xbmc and all other features back to the orig system.

So, on my other atv2 i looked under manage extras and see no indication of an update available. Please be more specific about this uPdate. Nowhere does it say "update to 1.3 here".

Otherwise, i will just assume that there is no new features and continue on with this great product as is.

Submitted by thatleoguy on February 8, 2012 - 7:32pm

mmma02 you fix the xbmc thru the video settings in xbmc. gnot ATV .go to recalibrate screen and follow directions in xbmc settings

Submitted by Fofer on February 8, 2012 - 7:49pm

Right, but what does ATVFlash (Black) bring that's new to the table in this regard?

We were already able to do all of that via the stock firmware.

Submitted by Anon on February 8, 2012 - 9:35pm

Arrggh, loving the ATV Flash, but my chapter forwarding option is still gone. I used to be able to access it by using the 'up' arrow and then left or right. Now, I'm forced to hold down the select button in order to choose chapters. I liked the old way better.

Submitted by Phixtit on February 8, 2012 - 9:43pm

Try disabling Volume Control and it may work.

Submitted by Phixtit on February 8, 2012 - 9:44pm

You are probably on a beta version.

I decided to update and when I did, I can't get anything to play in Plex anymore. Everything was fine before. I even ref lashed my AppleTV, rejailbroke, and reinstalled. Still nothing. I just get an "An error occurred loading this content. Try again later." error every time.

Running 4.4.4 on an aTV2. Any suggestions? Really wanna get my aTV back running.

Ditto here. SMB shares and message cannot locate files .... do you want to delete from library. This applies to both XBMC and Video player Frown

Submitted by Anon on February 8, 2012 - 10:51pm

when typing text from iphone 3gs into remote hd app, the letters appear on the atv but deletion of letters doesnt work

PLEASE add proxy support for the Last.fm client as the desktop version offers (or at least VPN, must be in iOS already anyway, no?)! I'd buy aTV Flash only for that...

Submitted by happychapsteve on February 9, 2012 - 12:46am

I second that!! Please add VPN support (like in Mac OS X), so you can add your favorite VPN service. Thanks!

Submitted by miguelamartinez1 on February 9, 2012 - 1:02am

I second if you could add the ability to use a VPN.

It would help since I don't live in the US, there are a lot of options that I can't use for example: XMBC is useless to me... but besides that I love your product..

And if you could have the time/date showing on the home screen there is no time on the Apple Tv...

Cheers

Submitted by Anon on February 9, 2012 - 3:56am

You mean the women accepting factor will raise? Wink
But I know your pain, brother ...

Submitted by Anon on February 9, 2012 - 4:21am

Submitted by Anon on February 9, 2012 - 4:35am

Can you add Korean translations. This would be perfect.

Its free for 1 week , try it and you shall see xbmc shine again. Smile

Still lots of buffering issues while playing mkv files (there is some stuttering too). They play fine with xmbc. Could you please look into that?
Had to "remount" all my smb-shares after updating atv-flash but now they work fine again.

Submitted by Anon on February 9, 2012 - 6:05am

Thanks

Can you make subtitle adjust downwards!
When i play a movie with black bars, i wan't the subtitles
in the black bars!
Now i only can adjust them higher. Not lower!

And also AC3 still not working for me!!!!!!! (DTS works, over HDMI and Optical)

With iTunes AC3 works!

Submitted by Anon on February 9, 2012 - 7:28am

how did you create the MKVs?
I still remember that they have troubles with MKV made with makeMKV.

Submitted by autoy on February 9, 2012 - 7:35am

We're looking into updating some spanish translations now that we see if they fit or not. "Contenidos" was one of the questionable ones and we're looking at alternatives. "Reproductor" may have problems with some latin-american translations so I hope to think of a better solution. Thanks for the feedback.

doublepost

Can you check the version you are currently running? This info can be found in the Maintenance --> About menu.

If the version shows a beta or RC version you will need to run the 1.3 installer from a Mac or PC to update.

Once you're on the 1.x track future updates can be installed directly on the AppleTV.

Submitted by james on February 9, 2012 - 9:45am

Version 1.3 adds support for Harmony One (advanced) controls to Media Player. Previously only basic commands were supported.

These changes will not affect the normal AppleTV menus/features.

Submitted by james on February 9, 2012 - 9:45am

Photo viewer improvements are in the works and will be available soon.

Stay tuned.

Submitted by james on February 9, 2012 - 9:47am

Most receivers will not actually support AAC passthrough, however we're working to support 5.1 AAC to 5.1 AC3 transcoding for a future version.

Stay tuned.

Submitted by james on February 9, 2012 - 9:47am

If you can send in a sample site, or video we can take a look.

Submitted by james on February 9, 2012 - 9:48am

The Firmware Backup option will be in the Maintenance --> Settings --> Manage Backups menu.

Should work fine on all versions 4.2 and later.

Agreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed!!!

Submitted by Anon on February 9, 2012 - 12:06pm

Only thing that's keeping me from tossing xbmc out the window is the lack of automated subtitle downloads from sites like opensubtitles, subscene, podnpapisi,...when playing a movie or tv serie.
Is it possible to add this feature?
