Thanks for your feedback.

1.0 is an important milestone for us, but definitely not the end of the road. :)

Submitted by Anon on November 16, 2011 - 3:20pm

Love the product!
I'm however dissapointed in how many people are crying like babies in this 'comment and feedback section'.

Keep up the good work firecore!

Submitted by Anon on November 16, 2011 - 3:20pm

I second that.

Submitted by james on November 16, 2011 - 3:20pm

You'll need to run the 1.0 installer from a Mac/PC to update from an earlier version.

Submitted by james on November 16, 2011 - 3:21pm

Yes. Hopefully in a future version.

Submitted by chrish.9644 on November 16, 2011 - 3:22pm

Have reinstalled using the latest 1.0 DMG, says successful and reboots

Maintenance -> about says 1.0

Upon trying to play any movie (tried 10+ that worked fine on xbmc) it bombs back out to the main menu :(

Gutted, was looking forward to the elusive 1.0 rls

Submitted by james on November 16, 2011 - 3:23pm

Please ensure Media Player is also up to date in the Maintenance --> Manage Extras menu.

If you're still having trouble please let us know.

Fantastic work, thank you all at Firecore! :D

I have been following the beta for the last half year and was amazed how aTV Flash got better and better with every release. Keep up the good work!

Submitted by Anon on November 16, 2011 - 3:25pm

For those of us who waited ... me since last year... can you repost or point to the procedure of jailbreaking and reinstalling for ios5.... or let us know what that to expect with a new install....Somewhere when IOS changes crippled my atv black for a month... finally got it back and was content with just waiting until beta testing was over. That said... whats up!! congrats on this development.

Submitted by hm on November 16, 2011 - 3:25pm

Can we have an indication on when there will be a version available that does not need tethering?

Submitted by chrish.9644 on November 16, 2011 - 3:26pm

Thanks James

Interestingly in maintenance -> manage extras there is couch surfer / last.fm / remote hd but no media player ( I do have plex and xbmc though, related?)

Submitted by james on November 16, 2011 - 3:28pm

It sounds like you may be running an older version of AppleTV software.

Version 1.0 will require 4.2 or later - you can check the AppleTV version in the Settings --> General --> About menu.

Submitted by foreignthinker on November 16, 2011 - 3:28pm

Ironic, all those individuals who ranted about the firecore team spending development cycles on getting SeasonPass right instead of finishing up aTV Flash should have been careful for what they wished. :D   Now that aTV Flash has reached this level, I would imagine they'll look at SeasonPass next.

Submitted by sdbonez on November 16, 2011 - 3:33pm

Congrats, guys! And thanks for sneaking in the embedded cover art feature last minute!

Submitted by andrec.1557 on November 16, 2011 - 3:34pm

That is great news.. if only I could install it...

I'm still in search for a way to downgrade to a version that would allow me to boot unthetered but since I upgraded to the latest from Apple I cannot seem to be able to downgrade and/or jailbreak.

I need help

Submitted by james on November 16, 2011 - 3:34pm

Yep - just download the new 1.0 version using the links in your account (https://firecore.com/user).

Start-to-finish installation instructions are included in the download.

Submitted by m.m.8607 on November 16, 2011 - 3:43pm

i can't understand that.

an external drive plugged on that small little atv2? what for?

buy a NAS get all the data you need over LAN/WLAN!

that'll do the job.

plugging a harddrive on my atv2 scares me.

Submitted by m.m.8607 on November 16, 2011 - 3:44pm

Submitted by davidl.09663 on November 16, 2011 - 3:46pm

If, as noted, above, M4V subtitles are still not supported, when will they be? I have a lot of foreign movies in that format that I can only watch on my old ATV1.

Submitted by m.m.8607 on November 16, 2011 - 3:50pm

if it confuses you every time, you should get used to it :-)

Submitted by m.m.8607 on November 16, 2011 - 3:55pm

just 2 questions, while reading the comments...

so i can update via the DMG or EXE file in my account and do not loose all my previous settings or installed programs (installed via maintenace or nitoTV) ?

the release date of the files in my account is "November 16th, 2011" and it expires on 11/16/2012.

so i could use the beta a long time until now and now i have support (and hopefully updates) for another year?

if so, thats a good deal, thanks! if not, please clarify.

Submitted by james on November 16, 2011 - 4:07pm

Correct. Installing 1.0 will not affect any of the AppleTV settings.

All license expiration dates have been reset to start from today. All the time during beta was a free bonus. ;)

Meta data Caching, Why does it cache every time you selet media player

Submitted by Anon on November 16, 2011 - 4:32pm

Thank James... you are my new steve Jobs!

Submitted by davidp.86188 on November 16, 2011 - 4:39pm

How do you uninstall the old ATV Black so its 100% off the ATV

Submitted by james on November 16, 2011 - 4:48pm

Cheers. :)

Submitted by james on November 16, 2011 - 5:06pm

If you want to start fresh you can re-run Seas0nPass which will act as a full restore.

However, running the 1.0 installer on your Mac/PC will wipe out any beta files that are currently on the AppleTV.

The hardware doesn't support it!

Submitted by Fofer on November 16, 2011 - 5:46pm

Yes, you can add Hulu via an XBMC script.  It works with both regular (free) Hulu accounts as well as Hulu Plus.

Submitted by walstib on November 16, 2011 - 5:53pm

GUys - mts and m2ts does not work. Green screen of death as i have to cold boot the atv2 when trying to playback

These videos are recorded at 1440x1080i with dolby digital 5.1 audio off a panny video cam.

Can I update my iOS to 4.4 after installing ATV Flash 1.0?

Submitted by Fofer on November 16, 2011 - 6:10pm

Wow, thanks so much for that.  Very much appreciated, to get to enjoy updates for a whole 'nother year.  That's kind of you.  I also note that (as warned!) the discounted price of $19.95 is over and now it's priced $29.95.  So I feel like I've double-scored.  (Such a great deal for such a great piece of software!)  I'll be spreading the good word.

I am still on 4.3 (untethered) and intend to stay here for as long as need be.  I prefer the untethered JB (obviously) and also, AirPlay from Safari (by way of this extension) only works with 4.3. http://www.macstories.net/reviews/clicktoplugi...

Once upgraded to 4.4, for some unfortunate, yet-to-be-explained reason, videos AirPlayed this way stop playing after a minute or so.  Hopefully that will be resolved in 4.5... we'll see.

In any case, just to be clear.  I've previously run ATVFlash RC1.  I have installed all the apps and tweaked them just so, added some scripts and whatnot.  I can just run ATVFlash 1.0 directly over that installation, and I won't lose anything in the process, won't need to reinstall anything or reset any preferences?  No need to backup/restore, etc.?  That would be awesome, and it sounds like that's the case... I just want to be sure before proceeding.

Thanks again!

Is there Boxee support yet?

Submitted by Anon on November 16, 2011 - 6:41pm

Is Boxee supported at all? I'm reluctant to move to the new aTV until it is.

Submitted by Phixtit on November 16, 2011 - 6:46pm

Boxee has no support! Let the dead rest...

Submitted by djsteve on November 16, 2011 - 6:59pm

I got a message tonight that said I only have 12 days left of maintenance license and that I could purchase more. When will the reset take effect?

Submitted by kentm.7578 on November 16, 2011 - 7:03pm

I REALLY want Hulu support!  How can we break though and watch Hulu on ATV 2?

Submitted by coldlaser on November 16, 2011 - 7:21pm

Has there been any changes to couch surfer? If so what were they. Had some issues on the beta.

Submitted by Anon on November 16, 2011 - 7:48pm

Same here. We've been wait to upgrade to 4.4 . Will it work on 4.4?

Submitted by alexmcleaniii on November 16, 2011 - 7:48pm

I purchased the aTV Flash (black) Beta and can't install it because the Seas0nPass 0.7.9 will not work on my Mac OS X v10.7.2. It just sits there with the message "Unzipping IPSW"!!!!

You should advertise above the purchase button YOU MUST US SeasOnPass BEFORE PURCHASING THIS SOFTWARE.

I would like a refund or tech support to get it working please.

Or do we still need to jailbreak the atv to use the new aTV Flash (Black) software. Will it do this automatically?

Submitted by timd.4762 on November 16, 2011 - 7:53pm

I've been following this for a while - though recently gave up and actually wiped the ATV2 to get rid of all the extraneous crap that wasn't working for me, XBMC: beautiful video playback, intensely fiddly GUI. PLEX: Great playback & GUI but needs a separate server running constantly and then the Firecore ATV Flash Media Player which frankly never worked for me more than a few seconds without a Memory error.

But I've given it a second chance - updated and installed this major release and it's looking good - most things play well though 720P HD playback judders every few seconds - during any kind of camera movement, it's personal preference whether it's acceptable, though to me it's a bit of a deal breaker....  a shame - everything is beautifully well done.... I guess, fingers crossed, that the rumoured - hell likely - ATV3 with an A5 processor and 1080p should sweeten things up.  - Or is the 720P judders just an issue for me?

Submitted by Fofer on November 16, 2011 - 8:37pm

Yes, you can add Hulu via an XBMC script. It works with both regular (free) Hulu accounts as well as Hulu Plus.  I have it installed.  The menus/UI is rudimentary, but the content is there, and it works.

Submitted by andrewm.21588 on November 16, 2011 - 9:23pm

I have updated from beta7 to aTV Flash (Black) v1.0 but the Apple SW is still 4.2.2.

Some features will not update & I wanted to know how can I update the Apple SW with the least hassle?

I'm assuming that will enable all the latest updates - correct?

Submitted by Stingray88 on November 16, 2011 - 9:26pm

Sounds like just an issue for you.

I stream 1080p x264, 5.1 AC3 movies in an .mkv container over wireless N a distance of 60 feet with no lag, stuttering, or other issues.

Submitted by Stingray88 on November 16, 2011 - 9:29pm

In the future you should be backing up your SHSH blobs.
