You mean not giving credit like @james does directly above your post or like they have done in the twitter feed?   e.g."A Seas0nPass update that includes@pod2g's iOS 5 untether is in the works and will be available soon. Stay tuned..."

Is your frustration that they did not give you credit for a string of your code, or that you think all software should be written without sharing developers' libraries/modules/code base? I have been following aTV black development for a year and firecore seems pretty transparent in their use of others' code.  They also seem to be supporting the efforts of other developers in the jailbreak community, @pod2g acknowledges and thanks firecore for their support on his bog.  I would imagine if @pod2g doesn't have a problem with the firecore team using his exploit the issue is with your development philosophy.

M4V files   I have copied my M4v (downloaded movies from iTunes)  files from my PC to my nas and they no longer play?   , any ideas why not

Submitted by Phixtit on December 29, 2011 - 12:30am

I had this same issue... Frown

If you transferred Files directly from External Hard Drive to NAS the properties may not have copied over!

You must Have your External Hard Drive connected directly to PC or Mac and then transfer to NAS to have properties copy over.

This Solved my issues! Cool

Submitted by GoPronto on December 29, 2011 - 2:13am

do you know what the properties that were missing?

Submitted by mikekele on December 29, 2011 - 2:50am

I still have problems with some .mp4 and .mkv files ! it just keep on buffering.. then eventually stops and it tells me that the network is not enough! on my imac is showing up to 1.2MB upload traffic ..surely is enough!

If i convert the same .mp4 file into .avi then has no buffering at all..

Submitted by Anon on December 29, 2011 - 2:15pm

I'm also missing my NBA, is there a fix?

Submitted by Phixtit on December 29, 2011 - 2:17pm

In ATVflash when viewing the Media's Description and choosing More, the: File, Video & Audio Properties were missing.

This was caused by transferring Files from External Hard Drive via USB directly to NAS. (Synology DS1511+)

When I realized this I hooked up External Hard Drive to my Computer (Mac) , then transferred Files via Network to NAS and Properties then showed up!

on the section of server you have the preferences settings on the upper frame where you see cine21 freebase etc . in the same place you need to mark the open subs.org and then press preferences button . then choose first language spanish . it will work . but in some cases still there is problem of letters .than you need to load subs to open sub.org to sync your plexdata

Nice to post this, but it would be even nicer to actually GET the friggin' software after I PAID for it.

Support sleeps all day, sales doesn't seem to care about their customers or their purchases...i"m going to write to paypal to get my money back, screw you and your crappy bogus software company.

---- Edit ----

There...you've succeded in Pissing Me Off Big Time.

I cancelled my order by requesting a payment return from my back.

You can keep your crappy stinking software and stick it where the sun don't shine.

This is absolutely the worst pieces of crap out there, both software as well as service.

Up Yours FireCrap !

Guys you really gotta improve the cover art preview.
I only get the art when I'm entering a movie specific folder, when I'm on the root folder I can only see the grid of folders of my movies instead of the cover-arts.

That's REALLY a pitty.

Submitted by nevillec.9927 on December 30, 2011 - 1:45pm

Yes, I would like to see this fixed too.  If any of the folder.jpg files are above 1000 px in either dimension then the cover art is not displayed. If below this then all it displays ok.  You need to increase this limit, please....

I have to reply to this as I'm astonished to see that your getting anything but excellent service from FireCore, even given the current Holiday Season.  I've been using the software for approx 3 months now and have not had a single problem, support tickets responded in a timely manner, although most answer are found in the support forum.  This is an excellent piece of software and expands the use of ATV to something that it should've been in the first place.  Thanks to FireCore for the EXCELLENT piece of Software.  Keep up the continue improvements and excellent support.

I agree with nevillec.9927 My experience with the software has been nothing but positive. And they were even trying to support an issue that wasn't their issue when I said I was having an issue with the aTV2 not exiting sleep and needing to reboot the device when it was being caused by my HDMI wireless repeater.

Great Job guys!

Love the atv flash black! You guys rock! only issue i've found is that when using media player to watch dvd ts_* format movies ... it keeps buffering every minute to a minute and a half. No other video formation have this issue though. a fix for that would be awesome! ... or even an option to be able to custom set the buffer size. feedback or suggestions ?

Submitted by tintin on December 31, 2011 - 3:08am

James, I still have some Video_TS films that appear in a rectangular box - ie. thick black bars top and sides. The Abyss and Brazil are examples where Media Player does this. Other films are shown full screen or standard widescreen just fine and they were all ripped from DVD using the same software.

Is this a known issue and is it on the list to be fixed?

TT.

You got my vote on horrible customer service. I am not sure how all these other people are getting such great service (drinking Kool-Aid™?), but I never did. I agree it is a great piece of software and I appreciate the amount of work that has gone into it, but if you are going to sell a product you should be providing the service to back it up.

You'll have to use the nightly build of XBMC. http://mirrors.xbmc.org/nightlies/

Just use FTP in XBMC.

Since i completely switched to XBMC using FTP I haven't got any buffering nor slow loading of art work.

Stop using the Apple UI with Firecore''s media player over AFP/SMB. XBMC solves your issues! Wink

Hi,

First of all great job!

Secondly, since the last update I can't play some of my DVD files anymore in media player... Before this update it all worked perfectly.
Is somebody else experiencing the same issue?
It might be something small that I am doing wrong... Some DVDs play without any problems other give me the playback error...
Everything plays perfectly in XMBC.. But I would prefer media player as my main playback medium.

Any input appreciated.

Kind regards,

Ploeter

hi, i've updated the software and all my files that are MKV don't play. they open and they remain static.

I'm using plex to play my movies

Is there something I need to do to update the software so it plays HD files?

The films you're referring (on DVD) were never released in anamorphic widescreen. That may be your problem.

bloody thing keeps crashing and sending my ATV2 back to the main menu....this happens every time I try and access a folder with over 12000 songs, is there an issue where Mediaplayer can't handle that many items in one folder?...if so, will it be fixed? if not, is there a solution to stop the bloody thing crashing?

also, it takes ages (much longer than the last version) to access my files on my time capsule...any reason for it??

cheers

My Apple TV doesn't have a USB port. How can I use ur software.

Submitted by scampcat on January 13, 2012 - 6:01pm

segment your music.  12,000 songs in the same folder is poor management for any file system.

Submitted by scampcat on January 13, 2012 - 6:03pm

Go to Best Buy and buy a USB port.  Get the extended warranty.

On a more serious note, it's a micro usb port.  And if you have the same Apple TV as the rest of the world, it's there.

Submitted by scampcat on January 13, 2012 - 6:07pm

What's the issue you're encountering specifically?  Are you using wireless or wired networking?  When doing HD, you should definitely be using wired.  Make sure your source machine can send it fast enough, and identify if the source (Plex in this case) is transcoding on the fly.  You need a fairly modern computer to pull that off without issues.

Submitted by Anon on January 14, 2012 - 1:41pm

Get rid of all the ones you torrented and your problem will be solved.

Submitted by Anon on January 16, 2012 - 3:44pm

it would be nice to have the ability to skip to the next item in a video playlist folder by keeping the left/right arrow in the atv remote.

I have plugged my usb memory stick that contain the firecore software into a usb port and then a micro usb cable from a blackbarry to the apple TV and it does not work. Any suggestions how I can get this software onto my Apple TV?

Submitted by mathetas on March 29, 2012 - 6:59pm

Me too, dude.  I have updated as well.  ATV black is giving me an indication via caption after a few buffers saying "Your network may not be fast enough...".  I know this isn't the case as I stream 1080 from the web and this is only 720 from a hard drive.  Anyway, I am currently converting the file to mp4 and loading it to my iTunes library.  If it doesn't have any issues playing from AirPlay, we know I will try running the mp4 from media player to hone in on the issue.  I will let you know what I find out.

HOWTO: Enable VPN in Cablevision Optimum app to watch live TV outside your home

Tutorial to watch live tv using Cablevision's Optimum app over VPN (works on any wifi or 3G)

To circumvent Optimum's jailbreak detection, install 'xCon' in Cydia.
VPN Patch http://www.mediafire.com/?cdimygpi5wut5o9

To install the .deb patch, use iFunBox http://dl.i-funbox.com/ifunbox_en.zip
Drill into the Raw Filesystem and drop .deb into a folder like \tmp on the root. Then use iFile on your device to install OR iFunBox has an option to install .deb files using Cydia and it'll install automatically after a respring.

You must power cycle or reboot/respring after installing the vpn patch.

Create a VPN server on your home PC.

(I use Windows 7, I think it's this simple with XP also. For OSX instructions, see this thread: How To: Enable VPN to watch Cablevision LiveTV outside your home - MacRumors Forums)

Steps to create a simple PPTP vpn server in Windows 7 with no third party software:

Following are the steps for configuring Incoming VPN Connection in Windows 7

1. First go to Control Panel and open Network and Sharing Center.
2. Click on Change adapter settings.
3. Press Alt+F and select New Incoming connection
4. Put a check on who you would like to give access to this computer or you can configure a new account by clicking on Add someone, after that click on Next.
Put a check mark on Through the Internet. Click on Next.
5. Select the protocols you want to enable for this connection. Click on Allow access. (I left this default and didn't change anything)

After creating the connection with the above steps, you have to forward the port in your router to your PC's IP. I have a netgear wnr2000v2, in port forwarding it has an option for PPTP-VPN and it automatically forwarded it for me. If you don't have this option in your router, simply forward port 1723 to your PC's IP address. On your iDevice go to Settings, General, Network, VPN. Add a vpn configuration. Choose PPTP, description can be "Home" or whatever you want to name it. Server is your external IP address (if you don't know this, you can go to What's My IP Address? Networking Tools & More). Account is the account name you chose to have access to the VPN (windows account) rsa securid is off, password is your windows password (if you dont have one, create one on windows to login to the PC or there's an option to allow connections in Windows without a password). THATS IT - Hit the vpn switch and confirm you're getting the blue VPN logo in the status bar. Start Optimum.app

Optimum's app acts as if I was sitting in my own living room and allows Live TV! on any IOS device.

If you're having problems, make sure you can connect to the internet through Safari while connected to VPN. If you don't have internet access, it won't work. Disconnecting from VPN and reconnecting can restore internet access although formatting my PC resolved that problem, something was blocking it.

Working on my iPhone 4 IOS 5.0.1 & iPad 2 IOS 4.3.3
