Thank you FC!
Two atv's smoothly jailbreaked.

Be sure to use a right usb-cable! Thought the 1st one was a good one, but after xx attempts it wasn't. Tried a 2nd one and all went well.

My Solution for "This device isn't eligible for the requested build."

Tried to untether my tethered jailbroken ATV2 4.4.4. I used Seas0npass with my macbook and itunes 10.5.2 and always got this error "This device isn't eligible for the requested build".

I tried to restore via itunes without Seas0npass and also got this error!!

The last thing I could imagine was the itunes version. So I tried the same using my Windows 7 Bootcamp with itunes 10.5.0 installed. It worked like a charm and now my ATV2 is untethered jailbroken with 4.4.4 on it.

Hope it helps.

No joy.

Brand-new ATV 2 with 4.4.2
iTunes 10.5.2 on MacBook with Snow Leopard.
Seas0nPass downloads the 4.4.4 IPSW and works it's magic. When instructed to, I connect the USB cable and hold down the buttons on remote. After 7 seconds, the LED starts flashing quickly. I release the buttons.
Nothing happens. -- iTunes doesn't open. No restore takes place.

If I manually launch iTunes, it sees the ATV is connected, but I have no idea what to do next.

what featues does this add? i beleive it did it correctly? i have the FC logo on bottum right corner but i dont see any diff... did i miss something here? should i be purchasing aTV black?

Submitted by jbatv on January 1, 2012 - 3:12pm

I realized that pictures played in Media Player look far worse than the same pictures played in XBMC.

Anyone else here having the same problem?

Submitted by elheebo on January 1, 2012 - 3:30pm

Kyphos, try unplugging the ATV from the electrical outlet and just leave it connected to your computer via the USB connection. This worked for me.

Submitted by Anon on January 1, 2012 - 3:36pm

My ATV2 was not connected to power. I followed the step-by-step guide and only had it connected to the Mac with micro-USB. No power, no HDMI, no ethernet.
But thanks for the suggestion.

I've just tried rebooting my MacBook and went through the procedure again. Same result -- iTunes doesn't open after releasing the buttons on the remote.

Submitted by elheebo on January 1, 2012 - 3:38pm

mikeyags, you need to purchase and install aTV black to see new features in the menu. Seas0nPass only performs the jailbreak.

Sometimes the script fails u have to manually select the custom firmware that seasonpass creates

I'm having the same issues with my Mac. I will try the windows bootcamp method

Hi EBob:

NO, you do not need to upgrade first before you jailbreak with the new untethered Seas0nPass. I just did a jailbreak on my ATV2 from back at a 4.2 version. I've also installed the BETA of PLEX 0.9 and it works just fine! I know you've probably read all the assorted problems that many have had and truthfully that had me a bit nervous as well. My jailbreak and upgrade came off without a single hitch. In fact, this was the easiest jailbreak I've performed n my ATV2 and I am by no means an expert at this.

Hope this helps!

Submitted by Anon on January 1, 2012 - 4:51pm

A detail that needs to be added is that the ATV needs to be connected to the network. I set mine up with a wired ethernet connection and the jailbreak failed each and every time when the device was not connected to the network. Once I connected the device to the network, the jailbreak was flawless.

Submitted by Anon on January 1, 2012 - 4:52pm

@ Solar:

If you follow the instructions in the earlier posts about installing the latest PLEX BETA 0.9 .. you shouldn't have any issue with PLEX running just fine. I have it up and running perfectly on my ATV2 that was jailbroken to 4.4.4. No need to downgrade!

Submitted by Anon on January 1, 2012 - 5:12pm

I've been thinking something like that might be the workaround, but I don't know how to do it. I've searched my HD and discovered where seas0npass stored the modified IPSW firmware. But then what? Do I launch iTunes manually? Does Seas0npass need to keep running so it can fake out the signing of the blobs?

As you can deduce, the jailbreaking thing is all black magic to me.

Thanks a lot for your help.

I cannot get the apple tv to enter DFU mode; when I connect it to my windows 7 computer, it chimes, but the light on the front of the apple tv does not flash. Nothing I do allows it to be recognized by seasonpass

Submitted by sjstimer on January 1, 2012 - 5:31pm

Kyphos Are you getting the 'New Hardware Detected' or 'Installing New Hardware' message when you first connect the ATV to your PC.  If not try connecting the ATV to a different USB port on the PC.  When you connect the ATV to the pc you should have some kind of message that the PC has detected the ATV, make sure of that first then disconnect the ATV and run Seasonpass and reconnect after the 7 second button press stage.

Also try a different USB lead as the one you might by using to connect the ATV to the PC could be faulty

just connect the power cord and then hold power+down then when it starts to flicker fast real ease and then rite away hold menu and play

Im getting Error Code (9) when iTunes try's to restore.. Anyone know how to fix this ? Thanks

Submitted by superdifficult on January 1, 2012 - 6:54pm

I too am having a problem: I get a 'itunes restore script failed' message. I do see the IPSW in the finder. Can I finish the process without Seas0nPass? Or do I need to do something differently? I have jailbroken before without incident. Latest versions of everything and followed step-by-step.

Submitted by Anon on January 1, 2012 - 7:44pm

After jailbreak, I have lost my right channel in stereo; connected by analog cables through HDMI-television-amplifier-stereo speakers. I have isolated the problem to the Apple tv. After jailbreak, channel pops/snaps/on-off sound input. I had thought the audio issues were fixed?

Submitted by Anon on January 1, 2012 - 7:47pm

thank you, that worked.

I have jailbroken my Apple TV running 4.4 using SeaSon Pass and installed ATV Flash , however when I go the Maintenance menu and click on Manage Extras there is nothing shown, I have the process a few times and still same issue.

Please help

Submitted by Anon on January 1, 2012 - 8:19pm

So I checked everything except....where the problem really was. It was a loose speaker wire. No actual issue with the Apple tv, I must have loosened the connection when I removed the ATv from the cabinet. I replaced the loose wire and sound is good to go. My apologies.

My only issue now is XBMC won't instal, but I suspect that's a result of XBMC.org currently being down. I'll wait for the site to be up before trying again.

Submitted by Anon on January 1, 2012 - 8:34pm

You can install XBMC once your ATV is jailbroken. That is the mother of all reasons to jailbreak it Smile

I am somewhat disappointed big time....
I went ahead and upgrade from 4.1.1 to gain at least the netflix 5.1 audio from several iOS updates long ago
Yet the only reason i went ahead was firecore said XBMC was working with this, NOT
The 10.09 or what ever that prior one did not, and then the 11.0.0b1 update also does not work
They both d-load and installed fine, they will not load
HUGE STEP BACK for me, now i am ready to go back to iOS 4.xxx just to gain xbmc back

Submitted by Anon on January 1, 2012 - 10:38pm

I am the OP on this post.

Just maybe XBMC will work at some point, I HOPE! i go into maintenance and it keeps saying update and after doing that update
the log says 0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 10 NOT UPGRADED

Therefore something IS NOT RIGHT

FiceCore, how did you get XBMC to work?

Submitted by Anon on January 1, 2012 - 11:20pm

xbmc servers are offline tonight . I think that is why we can't install xbmc. same problem here.

Submitted by Anon on January 1, 2012 - 11:51pm

I thought they were down too, because it failed to install like 4 times from both manage extras and nito tv. However, I rebooted the Apple TV and tried again through manage extras, and it worked fine.

Submitted by Anon on January 1, 2012 - 11:52pm

I just installed it from Mange Extras around 7:00 pm pacific time and it worked just fine

Submitted by Anon on January 1, 2012 - 11:54pm

You might have and outdated ATF flash. Go to your account and download the latest ate flash and just re run it over the existing one and it should work

Submitted by Anon on January 1, 2012 - 11:55pm

I wouldn't even screw around with the firecore media player. It has a lot of issues (buffering, only SMB sharing, crappy pictures) and you can run the same things in XBMC. You can also use home sharing to show your pictures in high quality. No syncing or anything, just go into iTunes and tell it what folders to use.

Submitted by Anon on January 1, 2012 - 11:58pm

iTunes has some crazy errors I was getting error 2 and it was because of my firewall I had on. But after fixing that I started getting error 1600. If you are getting errors that are not 1600 or 1300 then there is something else that is messing with your iTunes restore. Try using another pc or turn off your firewall

I actually like media player a lot because it right under the main menu. I can set up short cuts to my folders on my Mac and external hard drive which are just two clicks away. for pictures I just uses apples photo stream or aperture from my Mac. As far as movies playing I never get any lags

Submitted by Anon on January 2, 2012 - 1:19am

Got the same error. Worked for me, after I made sure no other iOS devices are connected. You will have to put an iPhone or iPad into Airplane mode, if you use wireless syncing…

Submitted by Anon on January 2, 2012 - 1:35am

I don't know if this is an issue with the new jailbreak, or my internet connection, but I used to be able to play any link in Navi-x prefectly, and since the new untethered jailbreak (as far as I can remember), only a select few video links will play. Most just say "waiting" for about 30 seconds and then just cancel themselves out. Anyone else have this problem?

Submitted by Anon on January 2, 2012 - 2:23am

I was able to install atv black on ipws 4.4.4 with few issues during jailbreak but it finally got there, the issue was iTunes kept on crashing but I never gave up, and also had some issues with xbmc installation but few retries it got there also. Thanks firecore Team.

Been getting "script failed! Plugin.video.icefilms" for every video in icefilms on XBMC. Videos were working fine an hour ago. Could this be a jailbreak bug, or is icefilms down? I have gotten this error randomly before, but only since the untethered jailbreak. Anyone else experiencing this?

Submitted by Anon on January 2, 2012 - 6:15am

Reset your apple tv and try again through manage settings. I tried 4 times before I reset, then it worked fine

Submitted by allan.kent on January 2, 2012 - 6:38am

I've been waiting until the 4.4.4 version of Seas0npass before taking the leap and buying aTV Flash.  This afternoon I took the plunge and so happy that I did.  Both Seas0npass and aTV Flash installed easily (OSX 10.7.1/iTunes 10.5.2) by following the install guides on the site and the two small niggles I had during the install were easily solved with a quick search in the support forum.  Good job guys, being able to play non-iTunes formats straight from a network share has made my Apple TV so much more valuable.

(My two niggles were: having to click Open to select the IPFW during the iTunes restore, and having to do a hard reboot of the aTV after aTV Flash install before the Media Player component would install)

Submitted by Anon on January 2, 2012 - 7:24am

All is good now with XBMC finally installing, the repo must have been down, OR Modmyi repo since they have been up and down
with all the iPhone jail breaking
I figured i'd give it a few hours and try again and it updated.

Otherwise i was going just to ssh install

its the same for me and everyone else as well. Icefilms is down now, was ok this morning. don't worry, they will be back up again very soon. In the meatntime, navi-x works nicely for me as well. Currently watching doogie howser m.d.
