aTV Flash (black) 2.2

The wait is over, and today we're happy to release updated versions of aTV Flash (black) and Seas0nPass that support the recently released 5.2 (iOS 6.1) Apple TV software. Big thanks goes to the evad3rs for making much of this possible.

Hooray for Bluetooth!

To the delight of many loyal users, Apple officially added support for Bluetooth keyboards in Apple TV 5.2, and we've been working non-stop to provide a seamless experience in aTV Flash (black) 2.2. Now features such as web browsing, media playback, library browsing and more can all be controlled using a wireless keyboard. Don't worry, the normal remote will still work as well.

Happy New Year & aTV Flash (black) 2.1

Happy New Year! To help start 2013 off on the right foot we've got a fresh new version of aTV Flash (black) for your enjoyment. In this new version we've worked to included a number of highly requested features as well as a slew of other improvements, fixes and all-around goodness. We're also working on some other really great things that will be available in the coming weeks/months, but for now a few highlights of what's included in the 2.1 update can be found below.

TV Show Playlists

Now it's easier than ever to pick up where you left off with your favorite show. After you decide which show to watch, simply hold the center button and choose the playlist option. That's it! You'll be taken to the first unwatched episode, and will continue playing until your run out of shows or your eyes turn into puffy white marshmallows, whichever comes first.

aTV Flash (black) 2.0

We are pleased to announce the release aTV Flash (black) 2.0 for the 2nd generation Apple TV. Version 2.0 goes beyond just watching videos, and adds in a ton of new features that make browsing and watching media on the Apple TV more enjoyable than ever.

2.0 is a free update for all current aTV Flash (black) users, so keep reading for more details on everything that's new.

Browse by category

The new Library View will now index all your media (even if stored on multiple devices) and automatically organize movies, TV shows and music into easy to use categories such as: genre, release date, star rating, age rating and others. TV shows will also be group by series/season automatically so there's no more worrying about keeping your folders perfectly organized.

While we think this is a great new way to browse and enjoy your media, the original file/folder based browsing will remain intact and working as an alternative option.

aTV Flash 4.5

aTV Flash 4.5 for the 1st generation (silver) Apple TV is now available. Version 4.5 includes support for OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion) as well as a handful of general improvements and fixes. We're also still working on a number of additional features for the 1st gen models and plan to have additional updates available soon.

What's new in 4.5?

Trakt Comes to Apple TV

You may have noticed, but we try hard to keep making aTV Flash (black) better and better through regular software updates. Our update cycle philosophy has always been to provide frequent, steady improvements, and to resolve as many issues as we can get our hands on.

Today we are happy to release aTV Flash (black) 1.7 which, among other things, features seamless access to trakt.tv. trakt.tv is a free service that automatically tracks the movies and TV shows you watch, and provides recommendations for related content you may find interesting.

aTV Flash (black) 1.6

Hot on the heels of the new Seas0nPass release we're happy to present to you a brand new version of aTV Flash (black). Version 1.6 adds a bunch of great new features including integrated subtitle downloads, expanded codec support, refined video playback, improved networking, additional translations and a truckload of other improvements and bug fixes.

Seas0nPass Cuts the Cord for 5.0.1

Today we are happy to release a brand new version of Seas0nPass that provides an untethered jailbreak of the latest 5.0.1 (iOS 5.1.1) software for the 2nd gen Apple TV. Massive thanks goes to @pod2g and Co. for the countless hours that went into making this new release possible.

Update 6/6: Seas0nPass has been updated to support the new 5.0.2 Apple TV software.

What about the new 3rd gen Apple TV?

Unfortunately Seas0nPass is not yet compatible with the new ATV3. Work is still ongoing and we'll be sure to announce any and all news as soon as it becomes available. Be sure to follow us on Twitter, Facebook and Google+ for up to the minute info.

aTV Flash (black) 1.5

Today we're happy to release a brand new version of aTV Flash (black) which includes a revamped player that is optimized for iOS 5.0 and later. This new player improves performance for virtually all file type resulting in noticeably smoother playback. We've also baked in a number of other goodies including NFS streaming, subtitle timing settings, additional translations and a mountain of other improvements and fixes.

What about the ATV3 and the untethered version for ATV2?

Work is still underway on both fronts, and we've had some encouraging reports come in over the past few days. However, it's still too early to give any kind of ETA but we hope to have more news soon. For the latest updates be sure to follow us on Twitter.

Apple TV (ATV2) 5.0 Update

Today we're happy to release new versions of Seas0nPass and aTV Flash (black) that are compatible with latest 5.0 (iOS 5.1) software running on the ATV2. A ton of work has gone into getting everything updated, and a huge thanks go out to Brandon Holland (@640774n6) and Dustin Howett (@DHowett) who both contributed immensely in adding support for 5.0.

Is this a tethered or untethered jailbreak? What's the difference?

Seas0nPass currently provides a tethered jailbreak for the new 5.0 (iOS 5.1) Apple TV software. Functionally, both jailbreak types are identical, the only difference being that a tethered jailbreak requires the Apple TV to be connected to a Mac/PC when first powering it on. Since the Apple TV doesn't have a battery, and is rarely ever powered off, this usually only needs to be done once.

aTV Flash (black) 1.4 & the New Apple TV

Wow, what a week! We had quite a few exciting announcements yesterday from Apple, not the least of which was a brand-new, 1080p capable Apple TV. We are uber excited about this new model and already have a handful of test units on order. Better hardware usually lends itself to better software, and the Apple TV should be no exception. Keep reading for more information on what all this means for you as well as your current aTV Flash (black) license.
